RIMC stands for Rashtriya Indian Military College. There is an excellent private school for boys in Doon valley. It was the Prince of Wales Royal India Military College till 1947. 

This institute has taken the heritage of a great tradition, which is now the feeder institution of the National Defense Academy (NDA) and eventually the Indian Army. The passed-out students here are called Rimkolians (the name of the alumnae) and they have been the highest rank holders in most of India.

History of RIMC: 

This institute was established by the British Empire in the year 1922 to train Indian students (cadets) for entry into the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. It was inaugurated in March 1922 by the Prince of Wales, Edward VIII. It was then named after him. 

Then it was located on the premises of the Imperial Cadet Corps (Sajwada Camp). This 138-acre green campus was near Garhi village, Dehradun Cantt. The British then believed that the education of private schools would be mandatory for the Indian youth for the discipline of the forces. 

For RIMC Dehradun, military commandants of the rank of Lt. Col. and senior and junior British teachers, and some Indian teachers were appointed as per the original government order. The first in command was Lt. Col. HL Routon, The Sikh Regiment, who assumed charge on 22 February 1922. 

Hira Lal Atal was the first cadet captain, who was also appointed the Agent General of the Indian Union after independence. Maj. Gen. Hira Lal received India’s highest Combat Courage Award, Param Vir Chakra; was envisioned.

 Some of the primary cadets were KS Thimaiya, Asghar Khan, etc. After Indian independence, the school continued its educational tradition, but now for the education and training of youth for the Indian Army. The only difference was, that now he is NDA. Acts as a feeder for Which is itself a feeder institute of the Indian forces.

Building of RIMC Dehradun: 

There is a long scenic road before reaching the campus of RIMC Dehradun. There are separate buildings for different subjects in this institute. These are all of the Tudor architectural styles. The design of all these buildings is the same, with only minor changes.

 Some of the features of the building include raised sides and rafters, rolled and exposed roofs with ventilators, wooden doors and windows, and a complete arch colonnade on the lower floor of the building. Fully wooden planks are used on the floor and a false ceiling has been used for the interior decoration of the building.

Examination pattern of RIMC Dehradun:

The written examination will consist of three papers English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. Medium of Examination Maths and English for GK Paper And in Hindi. Those who will qualify for the written test will have to appear for the interview. 

The interview or viva-voce will be used to assess the candidates’ intelligence and personality. The interview will take place on October 6, 2020. The minimum passing grade for each paper, including the interview, will be 50%.

Fee structure of RIMC Dehradun:

The annual fee for studying here is Rs 42,400. It may increase over time. A security deposit of Rs 20,000 will be given at the time of admission, which will be refunded by the students on passing out.
